10 euro Slovakia Hronský Beňadik

950th anniversary of the founding of the Benedictine Abbey in Hronský Beňadik

10 euro Slovakia Hronský Beňadik

Silver, gold, and other precious metals are constantly reaching new price highs, making Slovak silver coins an ideal investment opportunity.

In 2025, a silver coin was issued commemorating 100 years since the first European Ice Hockey Championships were held on the present-day territory of Slovakia, which attracted great attention not only from collectors.

The second silver 10-euro coin highlights events from 950 years ago, when the Benedictine Abbey was founded in Hronský Beňadik. It is the second monastery founded on the territory of present-day Slovakia. The NBS announced a competition for the design of this coin in April last year. From five proposals, the expert committee selected the design by Tomáš Lamač for realization. His work on the obverse combines the interior of the monastery, which is rightly considered one of Slovakia's artistic gems. The reverse features the abbey complex complemented by the patron of the abbey. Very little has been preserved from the original monastery from 1075.

This 10-euro coin symbolizes the spiritual tradition of pilgrims to the Benedictine monastery and simultaneously reflects the richness of our cultural heritage. It combines faith, art, and craftsmanship, appealing not only to numismatists but also to all who appreciate history."
