The Benedictine monastery in Hronský Beňadik forms a complex of fortified sacred buildings. In 1075, it was built by the Hungarian king Gejza I, whose aim was to establish an influential ecclesiastical institution known throughout Hungary. Throughout the period of high feudalism, the Abbey of St. Benedict was a model in the teaching of land cultivation and the refinement of agricultural cultures, but the Benedictines were also experts in metallurgy and construction. The importance and irreplaceable role of the monastery in feudal society stemmed from its function as a so-called credible place (locus credibilis), which served as a notary office. The Benedictine monastery is a possible place of origin of the Nitra Gospel. It is the oldest book within Slovakia. The monastic complex, which represents a symbiosis of various architectural styles from Gothic through Renaissance to Baroque and still today acts as a guardian of the crossroads, was included in the list of national cultural monuments on April 24, 1970.
Obverse:
On the obverse of the collector's euro coin is the interior of the Gothic column architecture of the Benedictine monastery church in Hronský Beňadik with a monumental medieval corpus of Jesus Christ on the cross. To the right of the depiction of the church interior is a part of the rare reliquary of Christ's Blood, and to the left is the state emblem of the Slovak Republic. In the lower part of the coin field is the inscription of the state name SLOVAKIA and the year 2025, above which is the nominal value 10 EURO in two lines.
Reverse:
On the reverse of the collector's euro coin is a composition of the fortified area of the Benedictine Abbey in Hronský Beňadik, complemented by the figure of Saint Benedict. Above the composition is the inscription ABBEY OF ST. BENEDICT and below it is the founding year of the monastery 1075. In the lower part of the coin field is the text HRONSKÝ BEŇADIK in two lines, flanked on both sides by clusters of grapevines. To the right of the composition are the stylized initials TL of the artistic design author Tomáš Lamač, DiS., and below them is the mark of the Kremnica Mint, a state enterprise, consisting of the abbreviation MK placed between two dies.
