Postage stamps of Togo

Togo is a country in West Africa. It has an elongated shape, bordering Ghana to the west, Benin to the east, and Burkina Faso to the north. Togo was a German colony until 1919, then a British-French mandate of the British Commonwealth, and later a French trusteeship territory under the UN. It gained independence in 1960. The independent issues of stamps had distinct British-French features.
