Euro coins Ireland

The Republic of Ireland occupies most of the island of Ireland, with only its northeastern part, Northern Ireland, belonging to the United Kingdom. Ireland has been a member of the European Union since 1973. Since January 1, 1999, the euro has been the official currency of Ireland. The coins feature a unified motif of the Celtic harp, which has been a traditional symbol of Ireland since the Middle Ages. In Ireland, euro coins in denominations of 1 cent and 2 cents are not used.
