Collectors of silver Slovak euro coins can look forward to a beautiful addition that will enrich their collections in June 2025. The National Bank of Slovakia plans to issue a silver 20-euro coin dedicated to the historic town of Kežmarok and its heritage reserve. This euro coin represents not only high artistic value but also a significant symbol of Slovakia’s cultural heritage.  

 

A silver Slovak coin capturing the history and beauty of Kežmarok On the obverse of the silver Slovak 20-euro coin, there will be a captivating view of the historic center of Kežmarok, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the High Tatras. Like many euro coins, this one is an artistic masterpiece in its own right, thanks to the way it depicts the significant architectural elements of Kežmarok, including Gothic churches and other historical buildings. The exceptional details of this silver Slovak coin aim to faithfully capture the beauty and unique charm of Kežmarok, which is among Slovakia’s most important historical treasures. Reverse of the coin: Symbol and heritage protection On the reverse of this silver Slovak 20-euro coin, the inscription "Heritage Reserve Kežmarok" will be featured alongside the town’s coat of arms. This symbol highlights the historical and cultural significance of Kežmarok and serves as a reminder of its importance to Slovakia’s cultural heritage. For enthusiasts of silver Slovak coins, this design will be not only aesthetically appealing but also rich in meaning. What makes this 20-euro coin so interesting for collectors? For every collector of silver coins, a limited edition represents a rare and attractive addition. The silver Slovak 20-euro coin featuring Kežmarok stands out not only for its beautiful design but also for its thematic connection to Slovak history and architecture, making it a valuable collectible with potential for appreciation in value. A total of seven designs by seven different authors were submitted to the public anonymous competition for the artistic design of the silver collector’s euro coin with a nominal value of 20 euros, themed "Heritage Reserve Kežmarok," announced by the National Bank of Slovakia in June 2024. The designs were evaluated by a professional committee in September 2024. As an expert consultant in the evaluation, Ing. arch. Ľubica Pinčíková, a former employee of the Monuments Board of the Slovak Republic, who is now retired, participated. The first prize and the right to realization were awarded to Karol Ličko.
