Its activities focus on the acquisition, research, protection, restoration, and presentation of cultural heritage in all artistic disciplines. Initially, the acquisition activities were mainly oriented towards painting, sculpture, drawing, and graphics, later expanding to include artifacts of applied and naive art, the field of scenography, art photography, architecture, and a collection of intermedia tendencies. SNG publishes a large amount of art literature. It has the largest art library in Slovakia, an archive of fine arts, and a central catalog. It is located in a late Baroque building on the Danube embankment in Bratislava. Obverse side: On the obverse of the coin is depicted a panel painting by the Levoča painter "Madonna with Child from Poprad" from the collections of Gothic art of SNG, the name of the state SLOVAK REPUBLIC, and the state emblem.
