Specification
Like many mountain ranges in Slovakia, the Kysuce region has been altered and transformed by humans over time. The most significant impact on the landscape was made by the life of Wallachian, highland, and kopanice colonization, which significantly changed the ratio between forested and non-forested areas. The region is characterized by a mosaic of forests, pastures, terraced fields, and settlements with wooden architecture scattered throughout the area. Through agricultural activities, humans have allowed nature to combine botanically interesting secondary plant communities, thereby increasing the biodiversity of the originally forested area of Kysuce with peat bog, marsh, pasture, and meadow plant and animal species. The cold climate and the influence of the oceanic climate cause some rare sub-Atlantic plant species to reach their eastern distribution limit here. The Kysuce Protected Landscape Area is a territory with a marginal occurrence of large predators and other rare protected animals. Babbling streams, the scent of the forest and peat, the colors of the meadows, the charm of wooden houses, the howl of the wolf – these are also Kysuce.

Obverse:
On the obverse of the collector's euro coin, a river otter is depicted in composition with a crested newt and a round-leaved sundew. In the right part of the coin field is the state emblem of the Slovak Republic, above which is the nominal value of the collector's euro coin "20 EURO" in two lines. In the lower part of the coin field is the inscription of the state name "SLOVAKIA" followed by the year "2022". To the left of the round-leaved sundew are the stylized initials of the collector's euro coin author Karol Ličko "KL" and to the right of it is the mark of the Kremnica Mint, a state enterprise, consisting of the abbreviation "MK" placed between two dies.

Reverse:
On the reverse of the collector's euro coin are two typical Kysuce wooden houses with shingle roofs from the settlement "Brízgalky", one viewed from the front and the other, against which a sled is leaned, from the side. Behind the wooden houses is depicted a typical landscape motif – Kysuce hills and behind them the peaks Stoh and Rozsutec. In the lower part of the coin field is the inscription "PROTECTED LANDSCAPE AREA" in three lines and in the upper part is the inscription "KYSUCE".
