Specification
Tension between the Slavs and the Avars within the Avar Khaganate culminated in a major explosion in 623. This set the rebellious Slavic tribes in rapid motion, which in a very short time changed Central Europe and the northern Balkans. The war stirred up the arms trade. This attracted a large merchant caravan led by the Frankish merchant Samo to the center of the Slavic uprising. He joined the Slavs and distinguished himself in the war against the Avars. The Slavic principalities that grew around the middle Danube united into a larger empire and wanted someone to rule them. A capable foreigner suited them well. Samo's Empire extended over Moravia, Slovakia, and Lower Austria. Its allies were the Czechs and from 631 also the Polabian Serbs. Samo's Slavs triumphed not only over the Avars but also defeated a large Frankish army in the Battle of Wogastisburg in 631. Samo ruled for 35 years (623 – 658).

Obverse:
On the obverse of the collector euro coin, there is a composition depicting a period duel of medieval horsemen, above which is a hint of a fragment of wooden palisades interrupted by a watchtower. Below the fragment is the year 2023, and the composition is complemented by the state emblem of the Slovak Republic in the lower right part of the coin field. The mark of the Kremnica Mint, a state enterprise, consisting of the abbreviation MK placed between two dies, and the stylized initials of the collector euro coin author Karol Ličko KL are set in the lower part of the composition. The name of the state SLOVAKIA is inscribed in the lower part of the coin field.

Reverse:
On the reverse of the collector euro coin is a fictional depiction of Samo galloping on a horse holding a spear in his hand. Above him is the inscription SAMO'S EMPIRE. To his right is the year 623 and below it in two lines the nominal value of 100 EURO.
