Mojmír I. is the first known prince from the Mojmír dynasty, who ruled in Moravia. It is not known when he was born or when he became a prince. He was already powerful enough to begin the Christianization of the Moravian principality. In 831, the bishop of Passau, Reginhar, baptized Mojmír, his family, the princely retinue, and significant Moravians. Mojmír's principality bordered on the east with Nitra, which was ruled by Prince Pribina. In 833, Mojmír expelled Pribina from Nitra and annexed Nitra to Moravia. Mojmír I. strengthened princely power over the then society, united the two principalities, Moravian and Nitra, and opened them to Christianization. This was a decisive developmental step on the path from tribal organization to a state where the ruler had the main say. Great Moravia was the oldest state in our national history. The reign of Mojmír I. ended in 846.
Obverse
On the obverse of the collector euro coin, the coin field is divided into four areas by a cross, which is filled from top to bottom with circular ornamental motifs. In the upper part of the coin field, two plaques from a portable altar from Bojná are depicted. In the lower part of the coin field, the state emblem of the Slovak Republic is in the foreground. On both sides of it, Great Moravian crosses are depicted. The name of the state "SLOVAKIA" is inscribed along the bottom edge of the collector euro coin, and the year "2019" is at its top edge. The designation of the nominal value with the inscriptions "100" and "EURO", which are separated by a circular ornamental element, is placed in the arms of the cross. The mark of the Kremnica Mint, a state enterprise, consisting of the abbreviation "MK" placed between two dies, and the mark of the coin's author MgA. Miroslav Schovanec, DiS. are below each other at the end of the left arm of the cross.
Reverse
On the reverse of the collector euro coin, a fictional portrait of the Great Moravian Prince Mojmír I. is depicted, which is complemented by ornamental engraving in the background. To the left of the portrait is the year "833" indicating the beginning of Mojmír I.'s reign, and to the right of the portrait is the year "846" indicating its end. The inscription "GREAT MORAVIAN PRINCE MOJMÍR I." runs from left to right, with its beginning and end separated by circular ornamental motifs.
