Specification:
Considerations about a railway connecting Bratislava with Trnava are related to the plan of Baron Salomon Mayer von Rothschild to connect Bratislava to the main line Vienna – Krakow. Rothschild received permission to build the main line on 4.3.1836. On 7.3.1836, he applied for permission to build a branch line from the Deutsch Wagram station through Marchegg to Bratislava. The railway from Bratislava to Trnava was to connect five royal towns – Bratislava, Svätý Jur, Pezinok, Modra, and Trnava. On 6.3.1839, a building permit was granted for the construction and operation of the railway, which started on 27.9.1840. The operation of the horse railway in the section Bratislava – Trnava was stopped on 10.10.1872, when its conversion to steam was started. The Považská Railway Company commenced operation on 1.5.1873 with the ceremonial departure of a steam train from Bratislava to Trnava. The train consisted of 12 carriages and was pulled by the locomotive Nagy Szombat. The locomotives had three driving axles and were accompanied by two-axle water and coal tenders, and could travel at a speed of 45 km/h.
Obverse:
On the obverse of the collector's euro coin, there are historical buildings of railway stations with the names BRATISLAVA and TRNAVA, complemented by a fragment of an arched viaduct. In the lower right part of the coin field is the state emblem of the Slovak Republic, and to the left of it is the year 2023. Above the composition is a schematic representation of the railway line between Bratislava and Trnava, along with the names of the stops SVÄTÝ JUR, PEZINOK, ŠENKVICE, BÁHOŇ, and CÍFER. In the upper part of the coin field is the name of the state SLOVAKIA and below it the nominal value of the collector's euro coin 10 EURO.
Reverse:
On the reverse of the collector's euro coin is a steam locomotive with a fuel tender, above which are the coats of arms of the city of Bratislava and the city of Trnava. In the upper part of the coin field is the inscription indicating the starting and destination station BRATISLAVA – TRNAVA and the year 1873, which is separated from the inscription by a graphic mark. Below the locomotive is the inscription STEAM OPERATION in two lines. The mark of the Kremnica Mint, a state enterprise, consisting of the abbreviation MK placed between two dies, and the stylized initials of the author of the collector's euro coin acad. sculpt. Zbyněk Fojtů ZF are located in the lower part of the coin field.
