On May 18, 1923, the private Czechoslovak company Radiojournal, s.r.o. began regular broadcasting. A turning point in the history of radio in Slovakia occurred on August 3, 1926, when Radiojournal launched regular broadcasting in Bratislava. Already in the following year, Radiojournal established a branch in Košice and in 1936 in Banská Bystrica. The establishment of the Slovak State in March 1939 also meant the creation of an independent state-controlled company Slovak Radio, s.r.o. During the Slovak National Uprising from August to October 1944, the Free Slovak Transmitter operated in Banská Bystrica. After the establishment of the communist regime in 1948, a unified state organization Czechoslovak Radio was established by law on April 28, 1948. Centralization and censorship ensued. Fundamental political changes after 1989 were associated with the restoration of freedom of speech in radio. The public institution Slovak Radio was created. As of January 1, 2011, Slovak Radio and Slovak Television formed the institution Radio and Television of Slovakia.
Obverse side:
On the obverse of the collector's euro coin, there is a composition of three loudspeakers, a period microphone, and a diagram depicting the frequency of the sound signal in the background, complemented by a hint of the propagation of radio waves. To the right of the composition is the state emblem of the Slovak Republic, and to the left is the nominal value of the collector's euro coin 10 EURO in two lines. The name of the state SLOVAKIA is inscribed at the bottom of the coin field, and above it is the year 2023.
Reverse side:
On the reverse of the collector's euro coin is the building of Slovak Radio. Behind it rises a transmitter with radio waves that symbolically cover the Czechoslovak Republic depicted in the background. The mark of the Kremnica Mint, a state enterprise, consisting of the abbreviation MK placed between two dies, is to the left of the Slovak Radio building, and to the right of it is the mark of the author of the collector's euro coin MgA. Miroslav Schovanec, DiS. The inscription CZECHOSLOVAK RADIO is inscribed at the bottom of the coin field, and above it is the year 1923.
