Mintage: in standard finish 3,100 pcs in proof finish 5,400 pcs issue date: 20.09.2017 Specification Božena Slančíková Timrava (2. 10. 1867 – 27. 11. 1951) is a leading representative of late literary realism. In her works, she captures the life of peasants, village intelligentsia, and nationally oriented society. They also feature a psychologically developed type of heroine with previously unusual feelings of sadness and disillusionment, which were related to the social atmosphere of the turn of the century. Her work is marked by autobiographical elements, a critical perspective, irony, and an emphasis on the psychology of characters. In the last period of her work, she also focused on serious social issues. She is the author of many short stories and novellas: Whom to Marry?, The Helper, Difficult Situation, It's Useless, Late, Unloved, The Ball, Experience, Without Pride, Great Happiness, That Alluring Land, All Vanity, The Tapaks, Heroes, The End of Pál Ročka, Two Eras, The Flood. Occasionally, she also wrote plays, which, however, did not reach the level of her prose. Obverse side: On the obverse of the coin is depicted an open book with a motif of the famous work of Božena Slančíková Timrava, The Tapaks. A writing quill is placed on the book. The national emblem of the Slovak Republic is at the bottom of the coin field. Next to it is the name of the state SLOVAKIA, under which is the year 2017. At the top of the coin field is the designation of the nominal value of the coin 10 EURO. Reverse side: On the reverse of the coin, in composition with an open book, is depicted a portrait of Božena Slančíková Timrava. Below the composition is the name and surname BOŽENA SLANČÍKOVÁ and below them the pseudonym TIMRAVA. Below the pseudonym is the mark of the Kremnica Mint MK and the mark of the coin's author Asamat Baltaev, DiS.
